DR. IDA SCOTT
One of our saints, Dr. Ida Scott,
passed to her reward about six o'clock
on Monday evening, January 17, after an
illness of some duration. She has been
practically confined to her bed since her
exploratory operation of last summer.
Dr. Scott, before her illness, was such a
joy to have in the Home, and was such
an appreciative, patient (although she
endured much
discomforture, and re
cently pain) soul, that she endeared
herself more to all those with whom
she came in contact. We shall miss her
quiet, sweet kindliness.
The funeral services were held at the
Home on Thursday afternoon, January
20. The Reverend Mr. Kermit Edgar had
charge cf the services. Dr. Remo I.
Robb, a relative, read several passages
of scripture after prayer by Reverend
Edgar. Dr. J. B. Willson reviewed "Dr.
Scott's Life in the Work of the Covenan
ter Church." The closing prayer and
benediction were made by the Reverend
Dr. R. A. Blair, who went over with her
to China on the same boat on their first
trip. Very fine congregational singing
was led by Mrs. John Allen, a member
of the Board, using
a portion of the
73rd psalm, and the 23rd psalm.
The body with her family and friends
then were taken to the Stephen Hill
Cemetery at Beaver Falls where her
body was laid to rest. Reverend Edgar
read a portion of
scripture, and the
benediction was offered by Dr. Robert
Clark, a classmate from Geneva College.
Everyone at the service had a feeling ol
triumph, of joy for Dr. Scott for her
prayer was answered in that her beloved
Saviour had come for her, and she had
now "entered into the joys of her Lord!"
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the
death of His saints. Psalm 116:15
