OUR WOMAN'S DEPARTMENT
A NOTE FROM MRS. D. C. WARD
I have so many happy
the loving kindness shown me in Grin
memories of
nell by the women of the Synodical and
many others. It was a wonderful ex
perience to realize how many people
really cared when I was injured, and it
made me feel very humble to be remem
bered so graciously. It was worth a lot
of pain and the very deep disappoint
ment of missing so many of the meet
ings, and it has all turned out very well
for my injury is completely cured in the
knee although it was the one which had
the most severe arthritis. I still have a
lingering tenderness in my left hand
which also suffered in the mishap but
my recovery was truly remarkable.
NEW ALEXANDRIA
The dedication of the new addition
to the New Alexandria church was a
fine occasion. The building is attached
to the old church at the front and con
stitutes a right wing. It occupies the
space of lawn in front of the cemetery
beside the church. It is excellently de
signed. The man who prepared the plan,
Mr. Evans, explained his purpose, to
make it fit in with the architecture of
the old building, for which he right
ly
expressed admiration. It is a large
room, with modern lighting and the best
of floor covering. Two entrances lead to
it through the wall of the old church,
one from the vestibule, and the other
from the auditorium, well up from the
back corner, to satisfy, state safety laws.
This made it unnecessary to sacrifice
any of the beautiful windows, for the
one in the corner remains in the wall,
visible from both sides. At the far end
are a kitchen with up-to-date
ment,
equip
and two toilets. In the basement
is a modern heating sysem which takes
care of both buildings. Partitions be
tween classrooms for the Sabbath
318
School are a future project. The congre
gation is to be heartily congratulated
on the vision, the determination and the
sacrifice which have made this new
building
possible. We also regard it as
one of the fruits of the labors of the
pastor and his wife. They are now in
the twenty-eighth year of their earnest
capable, self-sacrificing and
successful
service to this congregation. Dr. Fullerton
is an excellent preacher, and a faith
ful and diligent pastor.
A large audience was present for the
dedication service. A number of our
people came from other congregations,
and many friends from the neighbor
hood were there. It was a time of fel
lowship in worship and in friendly in
tercourse after the service. We came
away encouraged for the future.
KANSAS CITY
Sabbath, March 27, we completed our
spring Communion Season, with Rev.
Dougherty of Denison as guest minister.
Dr. Robb's sermon, Wednesday even
ing, prepared us well for Rev. Dough
erty's good sermons which followed. The
congregation profited greatly by Rev.
Doughterty's ministry. Mrs. Doughtery
came with him and we enjoyed having
her. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ward were
received into our membership. Dr. Robb
baptized their youngest son, Harry Alan,
on the previous Sabbath, and with Wil
liam, and John, three names are added
to the roll of baptized members. Mrs.
Robb was received by letter from Syra
cuse.
The Olathe congregation joined in
the closing service,
