REDUCING ABILITY TO PARASITE INTERNODE BORER EGGS BY
TRICHOGRAMMA CHILONIS ISHII AFTER A LONG TIME REARING
ON RICE MOTH EGGS.
( Summary)
MSc. Cao Anh Duong
Ben Cat Institute of Sugarcane Research
Two experiments (the 1 st one at the time of the first generation and the second
one at the 20 generation after collecting from the fields) were carried out at Institute of
Sugarcane Research (Ben Cat district, Binh Duong province), to study some biological
parameters of five strains of Trichogramma chilonis Ishii (1 from Ben Cat district, 1
from Thu Dau Mot town, 1 from Phu Giao district – Binh Duong province, 1 from Tan
Chau district – Tay Ninh province and 1 from Xuan Loc district – Dong Nai province),
in order to select the most promising candidate for cotrol of the sugarcane internode
borer Chilo sacchariphagus Bojer. Results of both two experiments indicated that two
strains of T. chilonis collected from Tan Chau (Tay Ninh) and Phu Giao (Binh Duong)
parasitized internode borer Chilo sacchariphagus and rice moth Coreyra cephalonica
better than others strains .
However the parasitism of internode borer eggs by all strains of Trichogramma
chiloning was reduced siginficantly after 20 generations rearing on rice moth eggs.
