RESEARH RESULT OF SUGARCANE VARIETY DLM24
IN CENTRAL COASTAL VIETNAM

DLM24 was made cross in United State, but all stages of clone selection has
been done in Vietnam since 1993. It has been produced for trial purposes with
permission of MARD in Haplic Acrisols of Southeast Region since 2002 and in acid
soil of Mekong Delta River since 2004. DLM24 has also been tested in Central
Coastal for 5 years (2002 – 2005). The result showed that this variety can be adapted
widely, fast growth, slight infected by pests and diseases, moderately good ratooning,
high cane yielding, moderately good CCS, medium harvesting, unusual flowering,… It
can be produced for trial purpose in Central Coastal next time. But when we want to
grow DLM24, we should to pay attention to grow with higher seed density.
