THE STUDY ON SPECIES COMPOSITION OF NATURAL ENEMIES
FEEDING ON SUGARCANE STEM BORERS AT BEN CAT
DICTRICT (BINH DUONG) AND ADJACENT AREAS
(Summary)
Ha Noi Agricultural University No. 1
At least 37 beneficial species have been recorded in sugarcane fields at Binh
Duong province and adjacent areas as natural enemies of sugarcane stem borers. They
belong to 5 orders of insects. It was a large quantity of discovered species to belong to
order of Hymenoptera (25 species). Other orders have a few discovered species (from
1 to 6 species). This entomophagous fauna composed by 21 insect parasitoids
(including 8 egg parasitoids, 10 larval parasitoids and 3 pupal parasitoids) and 16
insect predators. Among them, Trichogramma chilonis, Telenomus beneficiens,
Cotesia flavipes, Euborellia annulipes are very common and play important role in
keeping down density of sugarcane stem borers at Ben Cat district (Binh Duong
province) and adjacent areas.
