VN84-422 – A PROMISING SUGARCANE VARIETY
FOR PRODUCTION

Sugarcane variety VN84-422 was admitted for test production in provinces of
Southern Vietnam in the year 2000 and was carried out test production from January
2003 to December 2005 in provinces such as Đak Nong, Binh Thuan, Đong Nai, Tây
Ninh, Binh Duong, Long An, Ben Tre, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, and Kien Giang
belonged to three ecological regions Highland Tay Nguyen, South-east, South-west.
VN84-422 proved suitable for these ecological regions, especially it developed
to a high degree about potential of yield and quality and brought high economic effect
to producers in high-intensive cultivation. Therefore VN84-422 has been being in the
process of recognition of new sugarcane variety and production extension on a large
scale.
