7.4.1. Introduction

The aim of this section is to describe the geological conditions of the port location and evaluate the geological,
geotechnical and seismic risks that may affect the development of the correspondent project.
The report is based on the available geological data and the existing geotechnical reports in the vicinity of
Colachel, and specifically:

7.4.2. Description of the regional geology
All the proposed locations are placed in the Tamil Nadu region, affected by intense metamorphism.
Geologically, Tamil Nadu is divided into three zones: the northern region, the southern region and the central
region. Colachel Port is located in the southern region.
