7.4.1. Introduction<br />

The aim of this section is to describe the geological conditions of the port location and evaluate the geological,<br />

geotechnical and seismic risks that may affect the development of the correspondent project.<br />

The report is based on the available geological data and the existing geotechnical reports in the vicinity of<br />

Colachel, and specifically:<br />

7.4.2. Description of the regional geology<br />

All the proposed locations are placed in the Tamil Nadu region, affected by intense metamorphism.<br />

Geologically, Tamil Nadu is divided into three zones: the northern region, the southern region and the central<br />

region. Colachel <strong>Port</strong> is located in the southern region.<br />
