adjustment to work or school (such as no job, criminal acts, admissi<strong>on</strong> to<br />

an instituti<strong>on</strong>, abuse <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> organic solvent or other drugs). Twenty-nine<br />

were in good social adjustment, 2 were in relatively poor adjustment, and<br />

11 were in poor c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Forty-two cases were divided into two groups: a group <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 29 good cases,<br />

and a group <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 13 poor or unstable cases (table 7). Between the two<br />

groups, factors c<strong>on</strong>cerning family backgrounds and present living<br />

c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s that might have a relati<strong>on</strong>ship to the prognosis <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a client were<br />

examined using a chi-square test. A significant difference was observed<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cerning the influence <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> marital and ec<strong>on</strong>omic status. Subjects who<br />

had a spouse presently living with him or her and who had good<br />

ec<strong>on</strong>omic c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s had a favorable prognosis, but alcoholism and<br />

gambling by the father and the mother’s holding <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a job at a bar or<br />

similar establishment significantly indicated unfavorable prognosis.<br />
