Chapter – 4 Studies on different types of reactions….. 4-hydroxycoumarins and aromatic aldehydes are known to produce 2, 4-chromane diones (arylidine at C3 position) and coumarin dimers under reflux, with or without base. Thus, few new chromane diones were prepared using pyrazole aldehydes. Though the chemistry of the synthesized compounds is known, the compounds are reported herein for the first time.
