• Each family uses 4000 kWh/y for heating water.<br />

• Each hotel guest uses 76 litres <strong>of</strong> hot water per day.<br />

• Hotel occupancy is 80% during the high season which lasts 120 days.<br />

• Hotel occupancy is 40% during the low season which lasts 245 days.<br />

• Water is heated from 25°C to 65°C.<br />

• Electrical line losses have been ignored.<br />

• The capital cost <strong>of</strong> a household solar water heater is assumed to be US $1800.<br />

• The capital cost <strong>of</strong> a hotel solar water heater is assumed to be US $40,000.<br />
