7 Network Service Commands<br />
The <strong>AT</strong> commands described in this chapter are related to various network<br />
services. More commands related to this area can be found in chapter<br />
Supplementary Service Commands.<br />
7.1 <strong>AT</strong>+COPN Read operator names<br />

Command <strong>Description</strong><br />
TA returns the list of operator names from the ME. Each operator<br />
code that has an alphanumeric equivalent in the<br />
ME memory is returned. See also: <strong>AT</strong>^SPLM.<br />
Parameter <strong>Description</strong><br />
(str)<br />
<br />
Operator in numeric form; GSM location area identification number.<br />
(str)<br />
Operator in long alphanumeric format; can contain up to 16<br />
characters.<br />
7.2 <strong>AT</strong>+COPS Operator selection<br />
This command can be used to query the present status of the ME's network<br />
registration and to determine whether automatic or manual network<br />
selection shall be used.<br />
Automatic mode:<br />
Lets the ME automatically search for the home operator. If successful the<br />
ME registers to the home network and enters the IDLE mode. If the home<br />
network is not found, ME goes on searching. If then a permitted operator<br />
is found, ME registers to this operator. If no operator is found the ME<br />
remains unregistered. Manual mode: Desired operator can be manually<br />
entered, using the <strong>AT</strong>+COPS write command syntax. If operator is found,<br />
ME registers to this operator immediately. If the selected operator is<br />
forbidden, the ME remains unregistered.<br />
Manual/automatic:<br />
In this mode, the ME first tries to find the operator that was manually<br />
entered. If the ME fails to register to this operator, then it starts to select<br />
automatically another network.<br />
