space left on the patch panel allowing <strong>for</strong> a 20% growth.<br />

If a Riser/Tie cable is required it shall follow the Cat 5e/6 wire following the same sequence <strong>of</strong><br />

patch panel and wire manager.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Data equipment can now follow with wire manager above and below each piece <strong>of</strong><br />

equipment.<br />

A rack mounted UPS shall be installed in the bottom <strong>of</strong> the data cabinet.<br />

Small standalone devices are not to be placed on the floor, or stacked on top <strong>of</strong> each other<br />

within an equipment rack. A separate wall mounted/rack mounted shelf shall be furnished <strong>for</strong><br />

this equipment.<br />

5.3 MDF/IDF Room Cable Tray Systems<br />

As required by Terra frame installations.<br />

5.4 Cable Management<br />

This section outlines the rules <strong>for</strong> routing all cable and wire within all MDF/IDF rooms.<br />

A. All cables originating on the front <strong>of</strong> a patch panel or device, or connecting within a rack or<br />

between racks shall be routed through whatever rings, brackets, or Velcro straps are provided on either<br />

side <strong>of</strong> the rack. If no such rings or brackets are present, they shall be added.<br />

B. <strong>The</strong> cables shall be routed symmetrically. That is, cables originating on the right half <strong>of</strong> the cabinet<br />

shall be routed through the rings or brackets on the right side <strong>of</strong> the cabinet, those originating on the<br />

left half shall be routed on the left side <strong>of</strong> the rack.<br />

C. Upon completing a circuit disconnect, the jumper/patch cord shall be removed to eliminate the<br />

possibility <strong>of</strong> snagging and as a positive indication the port is unused. This does not apply at locations<br />

with dedicated port assignments.<br />

5.5 MDF/IDF Room Environment<br />

MDF/IDF room environmental requirements are important factors contributing to equipment<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance, reliability and employee effectiveness.<br />

5.5.1 Temperature and Humidity Standards<br />
