Required Instructional Area: TEA (36SF / Child) = 720 SF (min.)<br />

Required Instructional Area:<br />

Daycare (30SF / Child) = 600 SF (min.)<br />

Indoor Activity / Instructional Area - Definition <strong>of</strong> Measurement<br />

Childcare Standards (§746.4213):<br />

Indoor activity space is measured from the interior walls <strong>of</strong> the space at the floor level and excludes floor space occupied<br />

by permanent and stationary fixtures (ie. bookcases, shelving and storage/counter space) which are not intended <strong>for</strong> use<br />

by the children.<br />

TEA (Texas Administrative Code, Title 19, Part 2, Chpt 61, Subchpt. CC, Rule 61.1036):<br />

<strong>The</strong> net square footage <strong>of</strong> a room includes exposed storage space, such as cabinets or shelving, but does not include<br />

hallway space, classroom door alcoves, or storage space, such as closets or preparation <strong>of</strong>fices. <strong>The</strong> net square footage <strong>of</strong><br />

a room shall be measured from the inside surfaces <strong>of</strong> the room’s walls.<br />
