Prerequisite: advanced graduate standing with consent <strong>of</strong> department<br />
and major pr<strong>of</strong>essor. Investigation <strong>of</strong> pertinent problems<br />
under the direction <strong>of</strong> a graduate faculty member. This course may<br />
be repeated but total credit may not exceed six semester hours. Section<br />
number will correspond with credit to be earned.<br />

Prerequisite: admission to doctoral program in educational administration.<br />
This course will provide an overview <strong>of</strong> critical issues in<br />
the research design and analysis <strong>of</strong> data in educational administration.<br />
Current publications in educational administration will be<br />
reviewed and critiqued. Readings discussions and an analysis <strong>of</strong><br />
educational methodologies and research in school administration<br />
will be critically examined.<br />
EDAD 7000 Thesis Research<br />

No credit. Open to students in a thesis program who have only<br />
(other than application for degree) the final typing and acceptance<br />

EDCI 3101 Field Experience<br />
1 cr.<br />
EDCI 3140 Matrl Meth Elem School Math<br />
2 cr.<br />
Prerequisites: EDCI 3100, MATH 1021 and 1022 or consent <strong>of</strong> department.<br />
This course is designed to develop competencies in planning,<br />
conducting, and evaluating instruction in elementary school mathematics.<br />
Appropriate field experiences may be required.<br />
EDCI 3141 Field Exp EDCI 3140<br />
1 cr.<br />
Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in EDCI 3140. This is a required<br />
one-credit-hour Field Experience that supports candidates in applying<br />
the content <strong>of</strong> EDCI 3140 within the classroom. Candidates must<br />
spend two hours weekly in preschool and school settings to implement<br />
required field activities. Candidate field work will generate<br />
artifacts to document performance <strong>of</strong> required competencies.<br />
EDCI 3150 Matrl Meth Elem School Science<br />
2 cr.<br />
Prerequisites: EDCI 3100 and completion <strong>of</strong> or enrollment in the<br />
last four <strong>of</strong> the 12 required hours <strong>of</strong> science. Introduction to newer<br />
programs and instructional strategies in the teaching <strong>of</strong> elementary<br />
school science. Laboratory experience in the university and<br />
elementary school classroom is provided.<br />
EDCI 3151 Field Exp EDCI 3150<br />

Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in EDCI 3150. This is a required<br />
one-credit-hour Field Experience that supports candidates in applying<br />
the content <strong>of</strong> EDCI 3150 within the classroom. Candidates must<br />
spend two hours weekly in preschool and school settings to implement<br />

designed to investigate the purposes <strong>of</strong> social studies, understand<br />
and evaluate recent developments in content and instructional<br />
procedure, and develop competencies in planning and conducting<br />
instruction in elementary school social studies. Appropriate field<br />
experiences may be required.<br />

Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in EDCI 3160. This is a required<br />
one-credit-hour Field Experience that supports candidates in applying<br />

faculty direction. Seminar held on campus. Field experiences in<br />
junior high or senior high schools for a minimum <strong>of</strong> 25 hours.<br />

in planning, conducting, and evaluating instruction in secondary<br />
school mathematics. Appropriate field experiences may be<br />

Offered fall semester only. Prerequisites: EDCI 3200 and consent <strong>of</strong><br />
department. This course is designed to provide experiences with<br />
programs and instructional strategies oriented toward the teaching<br />
<strong>of</strong> biological and physical science by inquiry. Appropriate field<br />
experiences may be required.<br />
EDCI 3260 Intro Sec Sch Social Studies<br />
3 cr.<br />
Prerequisites: EDCI 3200 and consent <strong>of</strong> department. This course is<br />
designed to investigate the definition and purposes <strong>of</strong> social studies,<br />
understand recent research, trends and issues related to social<br />
studies, and introduce instructional approaches practiced in social<br />
studies education. Appropriate field experience may be required.<br />
EDCI 3265 Teaching Social Studies Educ<br />
3 cr.<br />
Prerequisite: Curriculum and Instruction 3260 or consent <strong>of</strong> department.<br />
This course is designed to develop the skills necessary for<br />
effective social studies classroom instruction. Included are skills<br />
related to planning instruction, using instructional strategies,<br />
