FTCA 2770 Promo Publ Propag Mass Media<br />

Procedures and theories <strong>of</strong> mass persuasion in the media. Attention<br />

is given to the manner in which such devices as radio and television<br />

commercials and dramatic shows, films, and various print<br />

media are used to influence mass behavior.<br />

FTCA 2771 Media Graphics<br />

3 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 1110 or FA 1011 or consent <strong>of</strong> department. An<br />

introductory study <strong>of</strong> the methods <strong>of</strong> design and layout for the<br />

mass media. Four to six laboratory hours per week are required in<br />

studio design projects.<br />

FTCA 2830 Stage Movement for Actor I<br />

3 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 1300. The construction <strong>of</strong> an aesthetic philosophy<br />

<strong>of</strong> movement for the actor. Emphasis on relaxation, self-awareness,<br />

flexibility, and imagination to develop characterization for use in<br />

the media and on stage.<br />

FTCA 2950 Stage Management Theatre<br />

3 cr.<br />

Traces the process and tools for the pr<strong>of</strong>essional stage manager<br />

from pre-production work through closing night. The student will,<br />

upon completion <strong>of</strong> the course, be capable <strong>of</strong> steering a production<br />

through its various stages.<br />

FTCA 3060 Intermed 3D Animation Lab<br />

1 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 2060 and consent <strong>of</strong> department. Students will<br />

design and produce a narrative 3D computer animation <strong>of</strong> thirty to<br />

sixty seconds, with sound. May be repeated once.<br />

FTCA 3061 Advanced 3D Animation Lab<br />

1 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 3060 and consent <strong>of</strong> the department. Student<br />

is introduced to pre-production dynamics within the animation<br />

team. Lab members will develop concept, storyboard, and object<br />

meshes for a 3D computer animation collaborative project. May be<br />

repeated once.<br />

FTCA 3062 Collaborative Animation Lab<br />

2 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 3061 and consent <strong>of</strong> department. Advanced animation<br />

lab team will design, direct, light, animate, and render a<br />

major animation project for submission to a regional or national<br />

animation festival. May be repeated once.<br />

FTCA 3063 Senior Animation Lab<br />

1 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 3062 and consent <strong>of</strong> department. Development<br />

<strong>of</strong> concept, pre-production storyboards, object meshes, textured<br />

objects, and lighting for final senior animation project.<br />

FTCA 3064 Senior Animation Project<br />

3 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 3063 and consent <strong>of</strong> department. Limited to students<br />

<strong>of</strong> senior standing Students will complete production work<br />

developed in FTCA 3063 Senior Animation Lab. Work will be submitted<br />

to regional and national animation festivals and become a<br />

mandatory senior animation portfolio piece.<br />

FTCA 3090 Independent Study<br />

reports under the direction <strong>of</strong> a member <strong>of</strong> the Film, Theatre and<br />

Prerequisite: consent <strong>of</strong> department and the honors program.<br />

Directed research under a Film, Theatre and Communication Arts<br />

faculty member culminating in a written thesis to meet the requirements<br />

for graduation with Honors in Film, Theatre and Communication<br />

Arts, and, if applicable, <strong>University</strong> Honors. May be repeated<br />

once for credit. Offered fall and spring semesters only.<br />

FTCA 3330 Acting III Advanced<br />

3 cr.<br />

Fall semester. Prerequisite: FTCA 2330 or consent <strong>of</strong> department.<br />

Intensive training in actor’s methods <strong>of</strong> character development,<br />

moment-to-moment reality, and rehearsal principles. Extensive critiques,<br />

exercises, and scene study. May be repeated once for credit.<br />

FTCA 3400 Cul Diversity Film & Theatre<br />

3 cr.<br />

An introduction to and survey <strong>of</strong> the evolution <strong>of</strong> cultural diversity<br />

in film and on the stage. Representative screen and stage examples<br />

will be presented. Students will be required to view films and stage<br />

productions outside <strong>of</strong> regularly scheduled class meetings.<br />

This course is only <strong>of</strong>fered through UNO’s Academic Year Abroad<br />

(AYA) in Innsbruck, Austria and can be repeated once for credit.<br />
