elated courses, 15 hours must be taken at UNO and all 21 hours must<br />

be completed with a C average or better.<br />

Honors in Business Administration<br />

In addition to the regular curriculum requirements listed in the<br />

catalog, a Business Administration major wishing to graduate with<br />

honors must achieve the following:<br />

1. maintain a 3.25 overall grade point average.<br />

2. maintain a 3.50 grade point average in the business courses used<br />

for the 21 hour business electives requirement (15 hours for Computer<br />

Science Option).<br />

3. complete a senior honors thesis (six semester hours) or project to<br />

be determined by agreement among the student, a faculty member<br />

in the appropriate discipline who will supervise the project,<br />

and the Director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>’s Honors Program. The student<br />

will be permitted to enroll in whatever business major field he or<br />

she has chosen (such as Accounting 3999 or Economics 3099, for<br />

example) for thesis purposes.<br />

4. perform satisfactorily on an oral examination defending the<br />

thesis/project.<br />

5. students exercising the Computer Science Option must also have<br />

a 3.50 grade point average in the seven computer-related courses<br />

required.<br />

Minor in Business Administration<br />

Non-business students wishing to minor in Business Administration<br />

may do so by completing the following courses with a minimum letter<br />

grade <strong>of</strong> C or better in each course: Accounting 2100 or 4400, Business<br />

Administration 3010 or 3080 or 4400, Economics 1203 or 2200 or 4400,<br />

Finance 2302 or 3300 or 4400, Management 3401 or 4400, and Marketing<br />

3501 or 4400.<br />

Minor in Global Business Studies<br />

Students may earn a minor in Global Business Studies by completing<br />

18 credit hours from the following courses with a minimum<br />

letter grade <strong>of</strong> C or better in each course: Economics 4262 or Finance<br />

4362, Management 4446, Marketing 4546; Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism<br />

2050; Business Administration 4048; Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism<br />

4250; Economics 4261; and Accounting 4126.<br />

The mission <strong>of</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong> Economics and Finance is to<br />

provide high quality education to undergraduate students in the college<br />

Minor in Economics<br />

Students wishing to minor in Economics may do so by completing<br />

hours <strong>of</strong> electives from economics courses at the 3000 or higher level.<br />

Students <br />

interested in pursuing graduate studies in finance should<br />

take at least one year <strong>of</strong> calculus.<br />

Students may elect, if they wish, a concentration in Banking and<br />

Financial Institutions, Corporate Finance, Investments, or Real Estate.<br />

Banking and Financial Institutions Concentration:<br />

The Concentration in Banking and Financial Institutions requires<br />

the completion <strong>of</strong> Finance 3303, Finance 3321, and Finance 4322. The<br />

student may take either Finance 3392 or Finance 4391, if approved by<br />

the department, in place <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the required courses. A minimum<br />

grade <strong>of</strong> C is required in all courses. The Banking and Financial Institutions<br />

Concentration is designed to prepare the student for entry into<br />

a banking and financial institutions career or graduate study in the<br />

field.<br />

Corporate Finance Concentration:<br />

The Concentration in Corporate Finance requires the completion<br />

<strong>of</strong> Finance 4362/Economics 4262, Finance 4232, and Finance 4222 in<br />

lieu <strong>of</strong> nine hours <strong>of</strong> finance electives. The student may take either<br />

Finance 3392 or Finance 4391, if approved by the department, in place<br />

<strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the required courses. A minimum grade <strong>of</strong> C is required in<br />

all courses. The Corporate Finance Concentration is designed to prepare<br />

the student for entry into a corporate finance career or graduate<br />

study in the field.<br />

Investments Concentration:<br />

The Concentration in Investments requires the completion <strong>of</strong><br />

Finance 4307, Finance 4308, and Finance 4322 in lieu <strong>of</strong> nine hours <strong>of</strong><br />

finance electives. The student may take either Finance 3392 or Finance<br />

4391, if approved by the department, in place <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the required<br />

courses. A minimum grade <strong>of</strong> C is required in all courses. The Investments<br />

Concentration is designed to prepare the student for entry into<br />

an investments career or graduate study in the field.<br />

Real Estate Concentration:<br />

The Concentration in Real Estate requires the completion <strong>of</strong><br />

Finance 2335, 3366, and 3368. These will be taken in lieu <strong>of</strong> nine hours<br />

<strong>of</strong> finance electives. A minimum grade <strong>of</strong> C in each <strong>of</strong> the three courses<br />

is required. The Real Estate Concentration is designed to prepare the<br />

student for entry into a real estate career or graduate study in the<br />

field.<br />
