EDHS 4500G Pediatric Safety & Crisis Mgmt<br />
3 cr.<br />
A course designed to focus on the specialized safety needs <strong>of</strong> the<br />
infant, toddler, and preschool child. Emphasis will be placed on<br />
developing hazard reduction programs and responding to special<br />
emergencies indigenous to the pediatric group.<br />

3 cr.<br />
The role <strong>of</strong> nutrition in health promotion and physical fitness is<br />
considered through exploring general topics such as nutrient categories,<br />
dietary planning, and nutrition education. Also covered<br />
are specific areas such as energy balance, weight control, the role<br />
<strong>of</strong> nutrition in fitness and athletic performance, and community<br />
nutrition.<br />

approaching gender and all health issues comprehensively.<br />

EDHS 4998 Practicum Health Promotion<br />
1-6 cr.<br />
Prerequisites: junior standing or higher completion <strong>of</strong> a minimum<br />
<strong>of</strong> 50 percent <strong>of</strong> the required EDHS/EDHP undergraduate courses<br />
and/or consent <strong>of</strong> department. Supervised experiences in health<br />
promotion. This course may be repeated but total credit may not<br />
exceed six semester hours. Section number will correspond with<br />
credit to be earned. Graduate students cannot receive more than<br />
nine hours <strong>of</strong> graduate credit from the combined courses <strong>of</strong> EDHS<br />
4998 and 6990, or EDHP 4998 and/or 6990.<br />
