NATIONAL MERIT/NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT FINALIST<br />
SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Award: Tuition, including (when applicable) out-<strong>of</strong>-state tuition<br />
if not covered by any state or institutional scholarship, exemption, or<br />
waiver; the cost <strong>of</strong> a semi-private room in Pontchartrain Hall plus full<br />
board; and a $500 book allowance. Eligibility Requirement: Finalists in<br />
the national competition.<br />
CHANCELLOR’S SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Award: Tuition, including (when applicable) out-<strong>of</strong>-state tuition,<br />
if not covered by any state or institutional scholarship, exemption or<br />
waiver; the cost <strong>of</strong> a semi-private room in Pontchartrain Hall plus full<br />
board; and a $500 book allowance. Minimum Eligibility Requirements:<br />
27 -composite score on the ACT (1210 SAT) and 3.5 high school GPA.<br />
DECENNIAL SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Award: If tuition is covered by a state or institutional scholarship,<br />
exemption or waiver, a full board allowance and a $500 book allowance.<br />
If tuition is not covered by any state or institutional scholarship,<br />
exemption, or waiver, the cost <strong>of</strong> in-state tuition and a one-half board<br />
allowance. Minimum Eligibility Requirements: 23 ACT (1060 SAT) and<br />
3.0 high school GPA.<br />
URBAN LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Award: A fee waiver covering the cost <strong>of</strong> up to one-half in-state<br />
tuition for the academic year. Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Fulltime<br />
enrollment, good academic standing, and significant evidence <strong>of</strong><br />
leadership or service.<br />
BASIN STREET JAZZ SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Award: A fee waiver covering the cost <strong>of</strong> in-state tuition and<br />
(where applicable) the cost <strong>of</strong> out-<strong>of</strong>-state tuition for the academic<br />
year, full room and board, and a book allowance <strong>of</strong> $500. Minimum<br />
Eligibility Requirements: Eligible to enroll and acceptance into UNO’s<br />
Jazz Studies Program.<br />
HANKS/LOGSDON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Offered by Mr. Carl E. Muckley, an alumnus <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>New</strong> <strong>Orleans</strong>. He established these two scholarship programs in honor<br />
<strong>of</strong> two UNO pr<strong>of</strong>essors who were instrumental in his educational<br />
experience at UNO. The two scholarships, known as the Dr. Donald<br />
K. Hanks Endowed Scholarship Fund in Philosophy and the Dr. Joseph<br />
Logsdon Endowed Scholarship Fund in History, will provide senior students<br />
majoring in philosophy and history with scholarship and book<br />
expense support. The grade-point average maintained by each <strong>of</strong> the<br />
potential scholarship recipients and their financial need shall be the<br />
major factors in selecting the recipients for the philosophy and history<br />
scholarships. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Chairmen<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Departments <strong>of</strong> Philosophy and History with the assistance <strong>of</strong><br />
the Dean <strong>of</strong> the College <strong>of</strong> Liberal Arts and others as deemed appropriate<br />
by the Chairmen and the Dean. For information, please contact the<br />
Chairmen <strong>of</strong> the Departments <strong>of</strong> Philosophy and History.<br />
JAMES W. ELLIS HIGH SCHOOL HONOR SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Award: The cost <strong>of</strong> one three-credit course and, when funding is<br />
available, the cost <strong>of</strong> books. Eligibility Requirements: Students must<br />
have completed the junior year <strong>of</strong> high school, be recommended by<br />
the high school principal or counselor, have an overall ‘B’ average for<br />
all high school grades, and have a composite ACT score <strong>of</strong> 25 or higher<br />
(28 for full-time).<br />
LAFITTE SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Award: Full in-state tuition and one-half board allowance. If tuition<br />
is covered by state or institutional scholarship, exemption or waiver, a<br />
full board allowance and a $500 book allowance. Minimum Eligibility<br />
Requirements: 26 ACT (1200 SAT) and 2.7-2.9 high school GPA.<br />
PRIVATEER SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Award: a $500 book allowance or $1,850 housing credit. Minimum<br />
Eligibility Requirements: 20-22 ACT (940-1050 SAT) and a 3.0 high<br />
school GPA.<br />
PRIVATELY FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
Scholarships awarded by outside agencies are administered according<br />
to the rules and regulations prescribed by the donors as accepted<br />
by the LSU Board <strong>of</strong> Supervisors.<br />
REGENTS SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Award: one-half in-state tuition and a $500 book allowance. If<br />
tuition is covered by a state or institutional scholarship, exemption<br />
or waiver, a one-half board allowance and a $500 book allowance.<br />
Minimum eligibility requirements: 26 ACT (1200 SAT) and a 2.5-2.69<br />
high school GPA.<br />
NAPOLEON SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Award: one-half in-state tuition and a $500 book allowance. If<br />
tuition is covered by a state or institutional scholarship, exemption<br />
or waiver, a one-half board allowance and a $500 book allowance.<br />
Minimum eligibility requirements: 23-25 ACT (1060-1160 SAT) and a<br />
2.7-2.9 high school GPA.<br />
CLAIBORNE SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Award: a $500 book allowance or $1850 housing credit. Minimum<br />
eligibility requirements: 23-25 ACT (1060-1160 SAT) and a 2.5-2.69 high<br />
school GPA.<br />
IBERVILLE SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Award: If not covered by another state or institutional scholarship,<br />
full in-state tuition and full non-resident fee exemption. Minimum eligibility<br />
requirements: 27 ACT (1210 SAT) and a 3.0-3.4 high school GPA.<br />
ST. CHARLES SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Award: If not covered by another state or institutional scholarship,<br />
full non-resident fee exemption. Minimum eligibility requirements:<br />
23-26 ACT (1060-1200 SAT) and a 2.7 high school GPA.<br />
PONTCHARTRAIN SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Award: If not covered by another state or institutional scholarship,<br />
$5,000 non-resident fee exemption. Minimum eligibility requirements:<br />
23-26 ACT (1060-1160 SAT) and a 2.5-2.69 high school GPA.<br />
PONTALBA SCHOLARSHIP<br />
Award: If not covered by another state or institutional scholarship,<br />
$2,500 non-resident fee exemption. Minimum eligibility requirements:<br />
20-22 ACT (940-1050 SAT) and a 3.0 high school GPA.<br />
CLASSICAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
A fee waiver covering the cost <strong>of</strong> in-state tuition and out-<strong>of</strong>-state<br />
tuition, when applicable, full room and board, and a $500 book allowance.<br />
Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Eligible to enroll and acceptance<br />
into UNO’s Classical Music Division Program.<br />
NANCY R. WICKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND awards one<br />
scholarship to an undergraduate woman who is majoring in English.<br />
For further information, contact the Chairman <strong>of</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong><br />
English.<br />
POLLY THERIOT BAUDEAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND is<br />
open to eligible freshman student applicants who intend to major in<br />
either Communications or English and who graduated from Higgins<br />
or other West Bank Jefferson Parish public high schools. The scholarship<br />
provides tuition and book expense support. Potential scholarship<br />
recipient(s) shall have maintained at least a 3.0 grade-point average<br />
on a four-point scale in high school and have achieved a composite<br />
score not lower than 25 on the ACT in order to qualify for scholarship<br />
consideration. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Dean <strong>of</strong><br />
the College <strong>of</strong> Liberal Arts with assistance from the Chairmen <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Departments <strong>of</strong> Communications and English. For information, please<br />

RICHARD AND DARLENE STILLMAN ANNUAL SPEAKING COM-<br />
PETITION was established by Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Emeritus Richard J. Stillman<br />
in 1994 in loving memory <strong>of</strong> his wife. The competition is open to any<br />
UNO undergraduate student enrolled in 12 or more semester hours<br />
who has a grade-point average (GPA) <strong>of</strong> 2.0 or better. Contestants must<br />
speak for a minimum <strong>of</strong> 10 minutes but not longer than 12 minutes.<br />
Only visual aids and notes are allowed. There are four prizes awarded<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Orleans</strong>/32
