Studies and practice in modern lighting techniques, which will<br />

include portfolio preparation, contemporary techniques in design,<br />

and a survey <strong>of</strong> current job practices and marketability. May be<br />

FTCA 6200 Seminar in Playwriting<br />

3 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 4200 or consent <strong>of</strong> department. Studies and practice<br />

in writing plays for the live theatre stage. Students should<br />

have written at least one play before enrolling in this class. May be<br />

repeated for credit.<br />

FTCA 6207 Intense Seminar Playwriting<br />

3 cr.<br />

Prerequisite: FTCA 4200 or consent <strong>of</strong> department. Studies and practice<br />

in writing plays for the live theatre stage, taught in an intensive<br />

(short term) format in residence. Students should have written<br />

at least one play before enrolling in this class. May be repeated for<br />

theories <strong>of</strong> analysis. Students are required to compare written<br />

scripts with productions in theatre or film.<br />

FTCA 6690 Internship in Research<br />

3 cr.<br />

This course is designed to give graduate students direct experience<br />

in conducting research under the guidance <strong>of</strong> a faculty supervisor.<br />

The student will apprentice in a directed research project designed<br />

for a specific outcome such as a conference paper, a publication, or<br />

the pre-production research for a documentary film. The student is<br />

expected to devote 12 hours per week in research tasks for a total <strong>of</strong><br />

180 hours per semester. The course can be repeated once for credit.<br />

Offered fall and spring semesters.<br />

FTCA 6830 Seminar in Stage Movement<br />

3 cr.<br />

An examination and practice <strong>of</strong> various techniques <strong>of</strong> stage movement<br />

for the performer. May include dance, gymnastics, and stage<br />

combat. Material varies each semester. May be repeated once for<br />

credit.<br />

FTCA 6900 Graduate Internship<br />

3 cr.<br />

This Graduate Internship is <strong>of</strong>fered within the Department’s film<br />

and theatre programs. Candidates serve in a leadership capacity<br />

in production or administrative activity directly related to the<br />

Department’s MFA production program. The student is expected to<br />

devote 12 hours per week in production related responsibilities. The<br />

course can be repeated once for credit.<br />
