BETWEEN VISUAL ARTS AND VISUAL CULTURE<br />

and research <strong>in</strong> visual arts education, which has been tak<strong>in</strong>g place dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

the last 10-20 years, must be re<strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>ced if we want to improve Danish visual<br />

arts education at all levels.<br />

<strong>The</strong> list of publications <strong>in</strong> this volume suggests that Danish visual arts<br />

education is a very active field. Among the authors are many very visionary<br />

teachers, teacher tra<strong>in</strong>ers and researchers who, through both their writ<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

and their experimental approaches to visual arts education try not just to<br />

keep the “status quo” of the subject, but to renew both its content and <strong>for</strong>m.<br />

Hopefully, the publications of the next 10 years will consolidate this strong<br />

tradition and re<strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>ce visual arts and visual culture as educational perspectives<br />

<strong>in</strong> spite of political storms.<br />
