InstallationTable 3–13. Changing Over Procedure For Two Locks And Two Point-Detector RodsWith Movable-Point Frog (Cont.)StepAction2 Crank machine to unlocked position.3 CAUTIONWhen removing or installing detector rods it is important to firstlift the point detector movement yoke and rollers up.Use a small pry bar (StanleyProto #2130 16” Rolling Head Bar isrecommended) to lift the point detector movement yoke up. Using the switchmachine lock rod to support the bottom of the pry bar, lift the extension ofthe center yoke that extends over the lock rod as illustrated.4 Pull the lock point-detector rods as a unit out of one side of machine.5 Insert two sets of lock rods as a group into machine from opposite side.6 Insert two replacement sets of point-detector rods, designed for desireddirection of operation, into machine. Note that previously used rods cannotbe reused in a machine of opposite hand operation. When installing the detector rods be sure that the rods are aligned below therollers and do not catch the edge of the spacer adjacent to the rollers.CAUTIONSlide the rods by hand. Never tap the end of a rod with ahammer to force it to slide. Failure to lift the center yoke androllers before sliding the rods, or applying unnecessary forcewith a hammer can cause damage to the roller support pins oryoke casting.P1293, Rev.
