Scheduled Maintenance4.9.6. Lock Rod Check And Adjustment ProcedureThe following describes the switch machine lock rod adjustment procedure. <strong>Switch</strong>adjusting tools, a 1/8” obstruction gauge, and a 1/4" obstruction gauge are required toperform this procedure.Table 4–13. Lock Rod Check and Adjustment ProcedureStepAction1 Disconnect the switch machine power by removing the power fuses andheater fuse. Locate the fuses by using the Book of Plans.2 Place the end of the hand crank against the inside lip of the blocking platethen move the blocking plate to the detent position, centering the hole in theblocking plate to the clutch crank hole.3 Insert a 1/8” obstruction gauge in the far point.4 Hand crank the switch machine to close the far switch point, and adjust thelock rod so that the switch machine is locked (locking dog entered throughthe wide notch of lock rod) with the 1/8” obstruction gauge in the far switchpoint.5 With the switch machine locked, adjust the lock rod so that the side of thenotch on the lock rod is snug against the locking dog. Be careful whenadjusting the lock rod ensuring that excessive pressure is not being appliedto the lock dog.NOTEBe sure to adjust the locking dog against the proper side ofthe wide notch in the lock rod.6 Hand crank the far switch point open enough to remove the 1/8” obstructiongauge.7 Hand crank the far switch point closed and verify that the switch machinelocks.8 Hand crank the far switch point open enough to insert a 1/4” obstructiongauge.9 Hand crank the switch machine to close the far switch point against the 1/4”obstruction gauge and observe that the locking dog does not enter the widenotch in the lock rod (switch machine is not locked).10 Hand crank the far switch point open enough to remove the 1/4” obstructiongauge.
