Scheduled Maintenance4.9.7. Point Detector Rod Check And Adjustment ProcedureThe following describes the switch machine point detector rod adjustment procedure. The following equipment is required to perform this procedure: Switch adjusting tool,1/8” obstruction gauge, 1/4” obstruction gauge, and a feeler gauge.Table 4–14. Point Detector Rod Check and Adjustment ProcedureStepAction1 Disconnect the switch machine power by removing the power fuses andheater fuse. Locate the fuses by using the Book of Plans.2 Place the end of the hand crank against the inside lip of the blocking platethen move the blocking plate to the detent position, centering the hole in theblocking plate to the clutch crank hole.3 Insert a 1/8” obstruction gauge in the far switch point.4 Hand crank the switch machine to close the far switch point against the 1/8”obstruction gauge, and adjust the point detector rod so that the pointdetector contacts are broken off their stops (closed) by less than 1/32”. Afterthe point detector rod adjustment nuts are tightened, observe that the pointdetector contacts are still broken off their stops (closed) by less than 1/32”.5 Hand crank the far switch point open enough to remove the 1/8” obstructiongauge.6 Hand crank the far switch point closed and verify that the switch machinelocks with the point detector contacts broken off their stops (closed) by 1/32”-1/16”.7 Hand crank the far switch point open enough to insert a 1/4” obstructiongauge.8 Hand crank the switch machine to close the far switch point against the 1/4”obstruction and verify that the switch machine does not lock and the pointdetector contacts do not break off their stops (open).9 Hand crank the far switch point open enough to remove the 1/4” obstructiongauge. Adjust the point detector plate per steps 10 through 16. If noadjustment is required, go to step 17.10 Insert a 1/8” obstruction gauge in the near switch point.P1293, Rev.
