Controller Contact AdjustmentsControllers are components of the Model 5G and 5H Switch Machines only.Shims are provided behind the upper bearing support of the contactor centering shaft.These shims permit the centering device to be properly positioned so that the backcontact of one contactor will make at the same time, or slightly before, the front contactof the other contactor.Permanent magnets blowout the arc which occurs during switch operation. The snuband contactor contacts consist of these magnets. One pole of each magnet is stampedN to indicate which is the north pole of each magnet. If these magnets should beremoved, be sure to reassemble them in their original positions with respect to magnetpolarity.When periodic inspection shows there is not enough contact wipe because of wear onthe contacts, the contacts should be replaced and adjusted.
