Scheduled MaintenanceAfter the switch points have been properly positioned, the locking movement of thelocking bar permits the point-detector to complete its movement. Shunt contact finger(5), Figure 4–3, which is attached to the movable block, moves U- shaped spring (1)about 1/16 inch before the other section of this contact finger closes the normal orreverse contact. Thus, the shunt on the repeater relay circuit is removed before thenormal or reverse contacts and the snub contacts are closed.In summary, the normal or reverse and snub contacts must be open before the shuntcontacts close.
