Connect and Initially Adjust Lock Rod Connector Rod ProcedureStepAction1 Remove guards over lock and point-detector rods.2 Position lug on lock rod in center of threaded section. Run nuts finger-tightagainst each side.Lock Rod Connector Rod3 Assemble lock rod connecting rod to lug on front rod and lug on lock rod.4 Crank machine to close, but do not lock far switch point. Move lock rodtoward track until outside edge of locating notch on top of rod, on field side,is flush with outside finished surface on contact frame.5 Crank machine to close, but do not lock near switch point. Move adjustingplate on lock rod until edge of locating notch on top of this plate, on trackend, is flush with outside finished surface on contact frame. Tighten and locknuts to keep this adjustment.6 After completing adjustments for both directions, crank machine back andforth a few times to verify locating notches return to proper position at end ofeach throw-bar stroke.NOTECorrect positioning of the lock rod permits about 1/4-inch ofswitch point obstruction, which allows the switch machine tolock. This adjustment makes it possible to check point-detectorrod adjustment without releasing the lock rod. If half of thelocating notch is visible, the locking dog is nearly centered inthe locking notch in the lock rod, and the switch machine willprobably not lock with a 1/4-inch obstruction.3.3.10. Machine With Two Lock Rods and Two Point-Detector RodsIf a switch machine has two lock rods and two point detector rods, connect and adjustone point detector rod, then the second point detector rod.
