Scheduled Maintenance4.11. ANNUAL MAINTENANCE4.11.1. Magnetic Detent InspectionTable 4–26. Magnetic Detent Inspection ProcedureStepAction1 Disconnect the switch machine power by removing the 110 VDC fuses andheater fuse. Locate the fuses by using the Book of Plans.2 Insert the hand crank (1) and manually crank the machine to the far switchpoint and near switch point positions. Listen for any unusual noises comingfrom the motor holding device area. If the magnets are loose, there will be aclapping sound.3 Remove magnetic detent cover and check for water trapped in holdingdevice housing. Drain and wipe dry.4 Confirm armature and attached magnets rotate freely.5 Verify armature shaft has no end play.6 Apply Permagum or similar sealant to cover the surface that mates withholding device.
