Scheduled MaintenanceTable 4–3. Lubrication ProcedureStepAction1 Disconnect the switch machine power by removing the 110 VDC fuses andheater fuse. Locate the fuses by using the Book of Plans.2 Remove the padlock from the switch machine hasp that holds down both thegear and contact compartment covers.3 Release the tension on the hasp strap and pull the strap up and off thecovers.4 Verify that the cover is free of the motor side and point detector sideeyebolts before lifting the cover off from the machine.5 Remove the gear and contact compartment covers by lifting the coversstraight up and off.6 Place the end of the hand crank against the inside lip of the blocking plateand move the plate to the detent position, centering hole in plate to clutchcrank hole. This action separates the contact plunger from the cutout switchcontact block7 Insert the hand crank through the blocking plate hole into the clutch.Observe that the motor cutout contacts are open. Leave the hand crankinserted throughout the procedure.8A For Model <strong>5E</strong> and <strong>5G</strong> <strong>Switch</strong> <strong>Machines</strong>, Figure 4–1 is an illustration showingthe lubrication points and the lubricants to be used. Table 4–6 includes theprocedure for lubricating three additional tubes.9 Remove the hand crank from the clutch shaft and reset the cutout contactby moving the blocking plate to the normal position.Re-install all covers and padlocks.Reset the crank mechanism cutout switch by moving the blocking plate tothe normal position.Re-install the fuses removed in Step 1 and restore the machine to service.P1293, Rev.
