InstallationTable 3–6. Point Detector Rod Adjustment ProcedureWithout Releasing Wide-Notched Lock Rod (Cont.)StepAction4 Adjust short lock rod and long point-detector rod as follows:a. Crank open switch point associated with short lock rod.b. Insert 1/4-inch obstruction gauge in switch point.c. Crank the switch machine, and adjust short lock rod so machine is lockedwith 1/4-inch obstruction gauge in point.d. With machine locked, adjust short lock rod so that side of notch is snugagainst lock dog. Be careful when tightening lock rod that excessivepressure is not applied by lock plate to lock dog. To ensure that rod isadjusted in proper direction, verify short lock rod mark extends as far aspossible outside switch machine.e. Adjust long point-detector rod so point detector contacts are just broken.After rod nuts are tightened, ensure that contacts are still broken.f. Crank switch points open, and remove 1/4-inch obstruction gauge.g. Crank switch point closed, and ensure machine locks and point-detectorcontacts are properly made.h. Crank switch points open, and install 3/8-inch obstruction gauge.i. Crank switch point closed, and ensure lock dog fouls short lock rod.j. Crank switch point open, and remove 3/8-inch gauge. This completesshort lock rod and long point-detector rod adjustment.5 Adjust short point-detector rod as follows:a. Crank open switch point associated with short point-detector rod.b. Install 1/4-inch obstruction gauge in point.c. Crank switch machine so machine locks with 1/4-inch obstruction gaugein point.d. Adjust short point-detector rod so point contacts are just broken.e. Crank switch points open, and remove 1/4-inch obstruction gauge.f. Crank switch point closed, and ensure point-detector contacts are properlymade.
