Leave snowguard in place.5 Remove hand-throw lever extension handle from end of hand-throw lever andset aside.6 Remove two screws that hold selector and hand-throw lever assembly tomachine. Pull assembly as a unit from side of machine. Leave snowguard inplace.7 Remove throw-bar guards and coupling. Fasten down-set throw-bar guard onhand-throw side of machine. Turn gear and contact compartment cover haspend for end. Leave snowguard in place.8 Replace selector and hand-throw lever assembly as a unit on opposite side ofmachine.9 Replace hand-throw lever extension handle in opposite tapped hole.10 Replace selector shaft bearing on track side of machine. Keep grease fittingtoward contact compartment end of machine. Leave the snowguard in place.11 To start timing operation of dual-control mechanism, place selector lever inPOWER position.12 Crank machine in direction that brings throw-bar coupling nearest machine.13 After full stroke in this direction, make a mark across throw-bar against edgeof wear bearing.14 Crank machine until full throw-bar stroke is completed in opposite direction.15 Measure midway between mark on throw-bar and edge of wear bearing andmark throw-bar at this point.16 Crank machine back until throw-bar mark is just at edge of wear bearing to getthrow-bar and crank exactly in midstroke position.17 Place selector lever in HAND position.18 Rotate hand-throw clutch gear by hand counterclockwise until it stops.19 With a pointer resting on edge of gear frame, slowly rotate hand-throw clutchgear clockwise counting number of teeth it rotates.20 Now, rotate it back just half as many teeth and mark tooth nearest centerlineof gear frame, place corresponding mark on gear frame.P1293, Rev.
