Scheduled Maintenance4.9.14. Friction Clutch AdjustmentTable 4–22. Friction Clutch Adjustment ProcedureStepAction1 Insert the hand crank and crank the machine to the unlocked position.Leave the hand crank inserted.2 Back off setscrew that holds clutch adjusting nut.3 Insert a 5/16 inch diameter pin through hole in gear bracket and into hole inthe clutch adjusting nut. The pin holds adjusting nut when hand crank isrotated.4A To increase slipping current, rotate hand crank counterclockwise.NOTEIf clutch is so loose that friction is insufficient to tightenadjustment nut, rotate clutch housing until friction increasesenough to permit adjustment with the hand crank.4BTo decrease slipping current, rotate hand crank clockwise.5 To retain the setting position, position the notch in the adjusting nut oppositethe set screw and tighten the set screw. Tighten setscrew.6 When the adjustment is complete, remove the pin and hand crank, thenrestore the hand crank cutout latch by moving the blocking plate.7 Shunt out operating winding of overload relay. Test clutch again todetermine slipping current. Remove shunt on overload relay.P1293, Rev. Jun/07 4–44 Alstom Signaling Inc.
