Lock Rod Check and Adjustment Procedure (Cont.)StepAction11 Insert a 1/8” obstruction gauge in the near switch point12 Hand crank the switch machine to close the near switch point, and adjustthe lock plate so that the switch machine is locked with the 1/8” obstructiongauge in the near switch point.13 With the switch machine locked, adjust the lock plate so that the side of thenotch on the lock plate is snug against the locking dog. Be careful whenadjusting the lock rod ensuring that excessive pressure is not being appliedto the lock dog.NOTEBe sure to adjust the locking dog against the proper side ofthe wide notch in the lock rod.14 Hand crank the near switch point open enough to remove the 1/8”obstruction gauge.15 Hand crank the near switch point closed and observe that the switchmachine locks.16 Hand crank the near switch point open enough to insert a 1/4” obstructiongauge.17 Hand crank the switch machine to close the near switch point against the1/4” obstruction gauge and observe that the locking dog does not enter thewide notch in the lock plate (switch machine is not locked).18 Hand crank the near switch point open enough to remove the 1/4”obstruction gauge.19 Remove the hand crank from the clutch shaft and reset the cutout contactby moving the blocking plate to the normal position.Re-install all covers and padlocks.Restore the switch machine power by installing the power fuses and heaterfuse.Restore the machine to service.P1293, Rev.
