128 God’s WorkPriesthood Without The InheritanceThere is one vital biblical text that specifically defines the responsibilityof a priest, “For every high priest taken from amongmen is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that hemay offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins” (Hebrews 5:1).The High Priest’s duty is to offer these gifts and sacrifices forthe sins of humanity. This is the biblical purpose for The Priesthood.Once the sins are paid for, there is no further purpose forThe High Priest. This is according to God’s Word.Once an individual repents, is baptized, and receives God’s HolySpirit, there is no reason for The Priesthood to intercede for one’ssins. This is because Jesus has already interceded for mankindand continues to do so while on God’s right hand. There is no furtherneed to have a Priest to continue making sacrifices. The onesacrifice by Jesus gave mankind their inheritance.Once your sins are forgiven, there is no need for a High Priest tooffer sacrifice for your sins. That is why Paul said in Hebrews8:1-4, that if Jesus were on the earth, He would not be a Priestafter any order. Paul went on to declare that there are Priestson the earth after or according to The Law. They still have theirsins and are without any inheritance. These priests on earth, TheLevites, are placed there for unconverted, unrepentant people. The Law is to bring them, inch-by-inch, deed-by-deed, as aschoolmaster, to Christ, until finally a repentant person does nothave to sacrifice. Always remember, Christ already did (Galatians3:24). Notice how The Priesthood is based upon The Lawor Torah. What does The Law say about receiving “tithes” and“The Priesthood?”
