In otherwords, this created system deals with human nature in a logicalfashion. But there is one thing it cannot do. It cannot change humannature. So, whether you might like to admit it or not, thispractice led to the formation of a religious system that was basedupon human effort (works). You can study any human work-oriented,disciplinary system of religion and perceive a simple stepby-stepsequence of logic in it from the human standpoint. Theseare “the works.” But it leaves out one vital thing - Christ. He isthe only one who is able to change human nature. It may beginwith teaching, but it also employs supernatural help. This comesthrough The Holy Spirit.The Greek language introduces a general perspective about thisform of “works.” But it does something else. It shows the relationshipto Christ who delivered you from all efforts that are partof all human religious systems. Now, this system served a purposefor a period of time. But it was not to last forever. Somethingsuperior would replace it. Consequently, Paul described the systemthis way, “…the law was our schoolmaster to bring us untoChrist, that we might be justified by faith” (Galatians 3:24). So“the schoolmaster” or “the system” brings you back to the mainintroductory subject, “the elements of the world.” There werecertain elements that were in the world - and of the world - thatmade up a certain kind of “schoolmaster.” Some wanted to continuewith this “schoolmaster.” They couldn’t seem to function
