This only lasted until they sinned and then God had to givethem The Law of Works. These were legal requirements imposedas a bondage until Christ came with a better covenant. This NewCovenant gave “life” and not death (Deuteronomy 5:29). So, whatmust die? It is your human carnal heart. Your spirit (pneuma)must be changed. You must change your mind from human reasoningthat follows Satan, to become spiritual as God who is a“Spirit” (John 4). Therefore, you only worship God spirituallyin your “pneuma” called the “spirit in man.”The thinking process must be changed from carnal - self-preservation- to God’s way of thinking through love (agàpè). Thecarnal mind must die, but only once! You must not, as some religionsbelieve, “follow your heart,” which applies to the reasoningprocess and will only lead to your death.Why Is Repentance Necessary?When Jesus explained to Nicodemus how he must be born again,Nicodemus was preoccupied with the idea that Jesus meant thebody of flesh had to become different. But Christ said, “No”(John 3). Christ explained, “That which is born of the flesh[“sarx” “beastly”] is flesh” (John 3:6). As long as people remainhuman, they are limited. Once you are born of the spirit, you area “spirit” - and no longer just a human being.That is why Jesus said that until you are born of water (baptism)
