In like manner, a carnal person thinks in terms of selfsurvival.In this mode, you would be continually thinking of protectingthe self, at all costs. Consequently, this kind of mind-setwas purposely made corruptible by God. It is that kind of thinkingthat causes human nature.As a human being with this characteristic “deeply ingrained,” it isnot until you experience a change of mind and see things differently- that you can view these external stimuli from a standpoint of thecorruptibility of your own human mind. This takes a truthfuladmission from within - from the human heart. One must come torecognize a basic level of internal human deceitfulness, just as youread, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperatelywicked: who can know it” (Jeremiah 17:9)? Now, do you understandwhy John didn’t baptize The Sadducees and Pharisees?They literally saw no need for God, so they saw no need to changetheir minds. As far as they were concerned, they had already received“the promise” through Abraham. They were Abraham’schildren and in their minds, it was “case closed.” As a result, theirminds remained closed. This is why John had to tell these scribesand Pharisees that God could raise up children to Abraham frompebbles or stones. The Law they received was from The Old Covenant,which literally, blinded them. They thought that the keepingof The Law pleased God. When Moses came down from themountain, he wore the vail. This obscured his face. In the samevein, these religious leaders could not see God or understand whatwas taking place. John said, “I indeed baptize.” The word “baptize”merely means to “purify” or “cleanse.” But this idea relatedto “necros” - or “dead.” In other words, the implication is thatone is to be “cleansed by death.” When baptized, you are allowingyour own body to be put to death. John said, “I indeed baptizeyou with water unto repentance…” John’s baptism brings
