<strong>God's</strong> Judgment51hell (the Greek word is “hades” or “the grave”) and was in tormentfrom the heat of The Lake of Fire. The rich man, also, sawLazarus in God’s “kingdom” with Abraham. The rich man said,“Abraham, send Lazarus to warn my brothers.” Abraham repliedthat there is a great gulf between those in “the kingdom” andthose in The Lake of Fire (Luke 16:19-31).What is this great gulf? Jesus gives you the answer. In John 5:24-30, the subject is the resurrection of the dead - as contrasted tothose who couldn’t receive “life,” and instead, were condemnedto The Lake of Fire. In this text, Jesus said, “Verily, verily, Isay unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him[God] that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not comeinto condemnation [Lake of Fire]; but is passed from deathunto life.” The great gulf represented the rich man who had tototally die - since he had not repented. But on the other hand,Lazarus had passed that gulf of death and therefore, had receivedthe gift of life.John, The Baptist said, “And now also the ax is laid unto theroot of the trees: therefore every tree [human] which bringethnot forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire”(Matthew 3:10). Those who do not repent and do not producefruit, must completely die; even the root itself must die. Theymust become totally dead. Nothing of that person can be alive.They are completely destroyed, so that nothing remains of thatperson (Ecclesiastes 12:7). So, The Lake of Fire is God’s righteousjudgment. It is capital punishment for all those who areassigned to go into The Lake of Fire.The Gift Of LifeHow does one escape this Lake of Fire? Acts 2:38 proves that one
