The Law is Spritual251as asceticism. This is the attempt to be pious by running awayfrom society and living a life of solitude. Paul explained thatthese are, “…the commandments and doctrines of men...” (Colossians2:22). Paul admits that all these human attempts whichare determined by humans to please God have, indeed, a show ofwisdom “…in will worship…” (Verse 23).Depriving the human body, such as starving oneself or taking avow of silence for God, does not please God at all. Why is this? Itis because all of your human efforts of attempting to be religiouscan never make you perfect, holy, or righteous. These things cannever make you like God and are not needed or wanted by God.Only Christ in you can do that. Now, you are ready to search TheScriptures and prove how Christians should keep The Law spirituallybut only in your hearts and minds. Your hope for deliverancefrom your sinful nature is through Jesus Christ only (Romans7:25). As a Christian and having Christ “In You,” you cannotbe condemned any longer of your sinful bodies. The Greek wordfor “condemned” is “katakrino” or “taken to trial.” You no longerneed to appear before The Judge in The Day of Judgment (Romans8:1). Any time that you, as a Christian, commit sin, you have aspecial pass where you can immediately pray to God and throughChrist, repent. Then you are forgiven. Therefore, you have nocondemnation when you errantly sin. This is a very simple formulaand a great GIFT from God, your Father.Paul states, The Law of The Spirit makes you free from TheLaw of sin and death, which is The Letter of The Law (Verse 2).Clearly, Verses 3 and 4 declare that the righteousness of God’sLaw of The Letter is fulfilled in you as you walk, not in the flesh,but after the Spirit. For a Christian, The Law must only be keptspiritually to receive salvation. The Law is always in force, butspiritually.
