The Law is Spritual247For the law [“nomas” in the Greek and “Torah” inthe Hebrew] having a shadow of good things tocome, and not the very image of the things, cannever with those sacrifices which they offered yearby year continually make the comers thereuntoperfect (Hebrews 10:1).The entire Letter of The Law was not real. The complete Book ofThe Written Law was only a shadow or type of what was comingin the future and only through The Messiah. Today, the keepingof The Letter of The Law does absolutely nothing to please Godand all the more so, since Christ already came. Paul said:12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to theflesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live afterthe flesh, ye shall die (Romans 8:12-13).This means that the best you can do by obeying The Law in TheLetter is to have “a good life.” But, all of the observance of TheLaw in The Letter doesn’t change a person’s basic nature. Onlyby keeping The Law spiritually can you receive salvation. Allthe rest is not true reality. It is only a shadow.In Colossians 1:27, Paul explained that the only real truth in aChristian is Christ “In You.” He warned you against the legalism,such as circumcision, required Sabbath restraints, imposedHoly Day observance, compulsory new moons, meat or drink, etc(Colossians 2:16).Notice, Paul explained how all the legalism is only a shadow ofthings to come. None of these Letter of The Law “efforts” or“works” are ultimately real in the physical sense. All of them areonly types, shadows or representations of what the real elements
