It included all that is“right” and “wrong” in God’s “eyes.” They were designed byGod to instill a sense of acknowledgment when an Israelite hadsinned. It was an ongoing witness. This “added law” also gavethe penalties when one came under the curse. What Law wasadded? It was the statues and judgments (Malachi 4:4).Furthermore, these actions were designed to probe for any potentialunderlying sense of conscience - “the wrong” or “the sins”these people did regularly on a daily basis. Notice what Jeremiahsaid in reference to this additional Law:For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commandedthem in the day that I brought them out of the landof Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices(Jeremiah 7:22).So, The Ten Commandments were given before any other Lawswere later added. After The Israelites had sinned, by creating thegolden calf, Moses, along with The Elders, went to God. In theprocess, with God’s inspiration, Moses wrote the entire book ofThe Covenant, which is The Torah or Law. Then, all the peoplewere required to agree to obey everything that was written in thiscovenant (Exodus 24:1-8). Note especially that all these legalrequirements were only added to The Ten Commandments afterIsrael had sinned.Notice further, this Law was written rather than being uttereddirectly by God, as He did with The Ten Commandments.
