196 God’s WorkEphesians 4:22-23 22 That ye put off concerningthe former conversation [conduct] the old man,which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind…This is what you are supposed to do, “ 22 That ye put off concerningthe former conversation [conduct] the old man.” [This isthe old man that you have buried] “…which is corrupt… 23 Andbe renewed in the spirit of your mind…” So the mind has notonly an ability to reason, but there must be a godly spiritual attitudewhich allows your mind to be open to receive new trueunderstanding.This process will make you totally different. It will set you apart.You won’t get offended easily. You won’t become upset quicklybecause your understanding becomes more Godly. You won’t beblowing up as often over small incidents. You will only be angryat sin and not getting into disagreements. Most people seldomget angry over sin. The person with whom you tend to get angrydidn’t shoot anyone, steal a million dollars or take away aneighbor’s house. All that happened was that something was saidwhich you didn’t like. That is not repentance.Going on, “ 22 the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitfullusts…” What are the lusts? One of them is wanting to be “right.”Yet you are told, “ 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.”Repentance is a constant renewal of your attitude in your mind.Romans 8:7-8 7 Because the carnal mind is enmityagainst God: for it is not subject to the law ofGod, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that arein the flesh cannot please God.
