330 God’s WorkPaul said that God chastens every Son He loves. Therefore, thosewho are thrown into The Lake of Fire are always loved by God.God continues saying when He chastens you, He deals with you asSons (Hebrews 11:5-8). Otherwise, you cannot be legitimate andinherit anything from God. God compares His chastisement toa natural father correcting his child. A human father corrects hischild for only a temporary benefit, but when God disciplines, it ispermanent and makes you Holy. Very clearly, The Lake of Fire isto make you Holy, which is just the opposite of being revengeful- or for the sake of justice (Hebrews 11:9-10). This is true love.Remember, Christ was chastised to give you peace or rest. Hereis the reason, “Now no chastening for the present seemeth tobe joyous, but grievous [torment] nevertheless afterward ityieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them whichare exercised thereby” (Hebrews 12:11). God only punishes tobring humans to their senses, so they will recognize and believethe truth which will set them free (John 17:17). Paul said, “Forwhom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth everyson whom he receiveth” (Hebrews 12:6). The word “scourgeth”in Greek is “mastigoo” meaning “to flog” or “whip” (Strong’s#3146). How plain can that be? The beating and whipping are thestripes Jesus was beaten with, until no one could recognize Himas a human being. The stripes represented mankind’s penalty asdemonstrated by Christians in The Lake of Fire. That is why thosewho repent and remain faithful do not have any penalty, becauseJesus took their penalties, Himself, for all mankind. Therefore, you do not have to go into The Lake of Fire. This is truly one ofthe riches of God’s grace. In Hebrews 12:12-13, Paul describesThe Israelites at Mount Sinai as being carnal. God wanted to consumethem with fire. Why? Hebrews 12:29 states, “…our God isa consuming fire.” God chastens by fire, since that is what Godis. The Lake of Fire is God scourging (stripes in Luke 12:40-49)
