What Or Who Was Melchizedek?137It is not the gift or sacrifice that is of significance - but ratherthe acceptance of the human who is chosen to be High Priest.Please read all of Psalm 139. David said, “ 23 Search me, O God,and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 Andsee if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the wayeverlasting.”God knows the thoughts and hearts of each of His creation andtherefore, He chooses those who are to become High Priests accordingto the heart of the individual. Then, in Hebrews 10:5,Paul makes an amazing statement. He says, “Wherefore when he[Christ] cometh into the world, he [David] saith, Sacrifice andoffering [and burnt offerings for sin] thou wouldest not, but abody hast thou prepared me.” Paul quoted this statement fromDavid’s Psalm 40:6. In fact, in David’s Psalm, David declaredthat God doesn’t even desire sacrifices or offerings, but rather thehuman body, (“The Christ”) which God prepared. Please readthis Psalm completely for the importance of its content.How significant this is. God is not the one who introduced sacrificesand offerings. This process all started by means of humaneffort. That is why Paul said that The Law, with all its carnalcommandments, was only done by humans to please God. But,they never could accomplish that objective. Only the offeringof the body of Jesus, The Christ, would suffice. This is becauseChrist loved righteousness - and was chosen above His fellows(Hebrews 7:16 and Hebrews 1:9). You will see that these fellows,referred to in Hebrews 1, cover the human genealogy fromCain and Abel until Christ, The Anointed One. Jesus is the aimor completion of The Line of Melchizedek. Read all of Hebrews1 thoroughly.
