Purpose Of God’s Temple41sins. The purpose of all of these Holy Days was only a shadowof things to come through Christ, The Messiah. But their heartswere still like stone and they never did repent. Therefore, theynever received mercy and had to pay the full penalty as The Lawdictated. If their sins required the sacrifices of animals or meal offerings, etc, it was their penalty for that “partial” transgression. Murder,as well as adultery, required capital punishment. Different transgressionshad varied penalties, but forgiveness of their sins wasnot possible unless they came to Christ. The temple was trulya courthouse for criminals and sinners against The Law. Theheavenly temple had the same purpose. The temple in heavenwas also God’s court. Satan and one-third of the angels sinnedagainst God and so God would not dwell with them - just as Hewould not dwell with Israel on earth. Satan and one-third of theangels were thrown to the earth. The heavenly or earthly templeswere the place where God judged (held court) and where God’sthrone was located. In heaven, the twenty-four elders sat withGod - and on earth, The Sanhedrin of Israel (Elders) judged withMoses.Christ’s ThroneOnce Jesus was resurrected and went to God’s temple in heaven,He received “a throne of Judgment” situated on the right handof God. This throne, however, was different. Since Christ was, also, a High Priest after The Order of Melchizedek, He offered theforgiveness of sins - because only those who truly repented wereaccepted by God (Hebrews 4:14-16).Jesus died for your sins and when you repent, God will hear youand give you grace because of His Son, Jesus Christ.
