54 God’s WorkSince there are really three different words in the Greek languagefor this word “judgment,” you need to discern the full meaning ofeach word in order to fully understand how God judges Christiansrighteously:1 Krima: This Greek word for “judgment” is used tomean “accusing or indicting someone of a crime orsin.”2 Krino: In Greek, this word conveys “the processof going to trial,” or “proving one is innocent orguilty.”3 Krisis: The definition here denotes “a time ofcrisis.” One is pronounced guilty or innocent as a“turning point.” As in all trials, punishment has tobe decided. The Law can (a) release, (b) imposeprobation, or (c) require payment of the full penalty, etc. It is the critical time of judgment and it is timewhen one can ask for the court to have mercy. All three of these judgments, as stated in The New Testament, must be addressed for the purpose of determining which meaningof the word “judgment” God intends when he uses the word. When referring to “judgment” for Christians the Greek word for“judgment” in I Peter 4:17 is “krima.” Christians can be accusedor indicted for a crime or sin.
