Peter said the samething in II Peter 3:2-6. He said that just as the earth was floodedso will it be at the end. Only this time, it would be purged by fire.This is not a baptism but a purging.Satan is doing exactly what he did in pre-flood times. The worldis filled with diverse ideologies of religion. Even Christianityis split into thousands of differing groups. He allowed Babylon,which is the continual confusion of the truth of God. Since Jesus,“the promised seed,” won the battle over Satan by using thetruth of God’s “word,” Satan no longer has access to God. Nowis Satan’s time of wrath. He is bitterly angry because he knowshis time is short. Now, he deceives the nations with vengeanceknowing he will lose just as Cain lost. These are truly the lastdays.Jesus promises that when He returns, the world will be exactlyas in Noah’s time. Every thought will be evil - completely contraryto God’s “word.” “The promised seed” has come to restorewhat was lost (Matthew 18:11). Jesus is fulfilling that promise toreturn humanity to paradise - which is God’s rest (I Corinthians15).Satan, as God’s adversary, is deceiving and manipulating humanityin every possible way.
