The word comes from a root in Hebrew whichmeans “chief” or “head.” Seth was “the new head” who wasinstalled as the firstborn to replace Cain - who himself became awanderer and secondly, he replaced Abel who was killed. In thisprocess, The Priesthood’s “promised seed” was to come throughSeth, who would be the one to offer gifts and sacrifices to God forsin. Seth became God’s High Priest.
