Descartes said, “Ithink; therefore, I am.” He recognized the human body is not youbut your act of knowing you are conscious, makes you aware thatyou exist. What is this consciousness? When your brain is energizedby your “spirit” “pneuma,” your mind begins to functionand you have the capability to reason just as God reasons. A goodexample was Moses at Mount Sinai when he was reasoning withand asking God not to consume the sinful nation of Israel. Consciousnessgives humanity the ability to think logically and unlikeanimals, man can be creative.Christ said, “Don’t fear those who can destroy your body.” TheGreek word for “body” is “soma,” which is your physiologicalmakeup as a human. But you, like animals, have a “psuche” whichis “a breath of life” or oxygen that supplies your life’s blood andmakes you alive and able to function as a human.However, you are different from animals in that your brain wasgiven “the spirit” of man. This “life energy” from God causesyou to have the capacity to be logical and therefore, exercise theability to reason.
