Numbers 18:1 reveals that the duties ofThe Levites are to bear the sins of the people (and their own) bymeans of the sacrifices. Remember, Melchizedek was a spiritualpriesthood based upon faith and belief. To be covered byMelchizedek, one had to repent - which means to have a changeof heart - and then to have faith (belief) in all of God’s “word.”Notice, in Hebrews 3:18 when referring to Israel, God said theywould not enter God’s “rest” because Israel lacked “faith” (belief)in God. They hadn’t repented because of a lack of faithand therefore, The Melchizedek Priesthood could not give sacrificesfor them.
