In II Peter 3:14-18,Peter wanted the true Christians to know what was happeningin the church and the newly emerging process of the “fallingaway.” He wanted Christians to be diligent in keeping the truefaith. He hoped that they would be found to be without spot andblameless when Jesus returned. Peter didn’t want The Christiansto worry about The Return of Christ. In the overall sense, it isGod’s “will” to save EVERYONE (I Timothy 2:4). Peter explainsthat Paul, in his Epistles, was reporting the same thing - eventhough Paul’s Letters were “hard” to be understood. Now listento Peter’s startling statement even though, “As also in all his[Paul’s] epistles, speaking in them of these things: in whichare some things hard to be understood, which they that areunlearned and unstable wrest, as they [his letters] do also theother scriptures unto their own destruction” (II Peter 3:16).Peter plainly explains how Paul’s Letters should be considered onthe same level as The Old Testament. This is The Genesis of TheNew Testament, becoming part of The Bible. Peter, Paul and Johnalso, finalized The New Testament as part of God’s “word” - TheBible.Paul Also KnewPaul knew he had finished the fight and was now ready to die (IITimothy 4:3,13). He warned Timothy of all the false teachersand how the time was near when Christians would fall away. SoTimothy should always continue preaching the truth, just as Peteradmonished in his own Epistles. Then Paul, in closing, makesa very unusual request.
